We often feature our image of an intimidating, closed door to make a point: this is what life looks like for lots of employees. They have problems, burdens, challenges–and crises–and the door to engaging, resolving, or even just assessing their obstacles seems tightly shut.

Those problems become your problem, too. People can’t leave them in the office parking lot, as much as they would love to. Their life challenges find their way to cubicles, company cars, and job sites. They affect employees’ homes and families, and are eventually absorbed by their coworkers and the organization itself.

How We Do It

Our Employee Counselors are always working on solutions. By getting to know each other, the Resource Employee Counselor and the employee establish a relationship based on trust. And life plays out. Sometimes the biggies hit. Perhaps it is a result of poor decision-making, whether the employee is on the giving or receiving side of that equation. Maybe it is just life.  Regardless, we are ready to help, available 24/7, well-equipped and experienced to stand with an employee or their family member and serve. Through this, REC Counselors find themselves assisting in situations such as:

  • Hospital and hospice visitation

  • Confidentiality: Confidentiality is vital in developing trust and assuring that, aside from (1) a threat of violence, or (2) child abuse, everything shared goes nowhere else.

  • Permission: Everything REC does is done with permission only. Each employee’s participation in the program is completely voluntary.
